This new facility comprises a 127,000m2 distribution warehouse for TJX, the parent company for the TK Maxx retail store group and is located on the junction of the M62 and the A1 at Knottingley, West Yorkshire.

The building is made up of a five span portal frame with the warehouse footprint dimensions 310m x 198m on plan, with an adjoining office pod and ancillary service buildings.  The height to eaves is approximately 20m, giving room for a three-storey mezzanine spread over 70% of the building footprint and with the remaining space given over to high bay racking.  There is on-site parking for 100 HGV’s and almost 1,000 cars.

Foundations for the building comprise traditional mass concrete pad bases and with individual precast concrete driven piles supporting the internal mezzanine structure.  The projected increase in local traffic has necessitated the reconstruction of Grovehall Lane which is the access road serving the site.  The fast-track project commenced on site in November 2015, steel erection commences in mid-February and with a projected completion date in December 2016
