The site for the proposed retail park was formerly a local authority run tip for household waste.
Following on from a basic site remediation carried out under local authority control, the site was treated by dynamic compaction for hardstanding and car parking areas together with vibro compaction treatment for the building foundations and ground floor slab. The development comprises 13,000m2 of retail space including two diners.
The building frame comprised a long span portal frame construction with central ‘hit and miss’ supporting columns. Foundations took the form of continuous reinforced concrete strips to the building perimeter with pads to the isolated columns. Where specified by tenants mezzanine structures were installed in the Units.
