This state-of-the-art bottling plant for Carlsberg in Northampton represents a £20 million expansion plan for the company.
To maximise the development plot within the existing Carlsberg complex, the structure comprises a lower level car park framed in situ concrete with a steel truss and portal frame over the split level bottling hall.
The flat slab design of the bottling hall had to consider numerous different loading combinations due to the extensive and various process plant, services and internal walkways required for production.
To facilitate cleaning and production process, stainless steel drainage channels and falls have been provided to the bottling hall floor with products sources to deal with the chemicals and high discharge temperatures from effluent drainage. Piled foundations were used due to the site’s proximity to the river.
