JPG were appointed as structural consultants on this new build 16-storey residential tower over a level of A3, which is currently occupied as a golf studio and café.
There were many interesting challenges on this project, the proximity to the River Aire and the proximity to Leeds Central Railway station being just a couple. A structural steel frame was selected, with composite concrete and metal deck flooring. Conventional steel bracing was located into areas carefully coordinated with the architectural arrangement to provide the structural stability.
The structure is supported on piled foundations, the positions of which were coordinated with existing anchor blocks associated with adjacent to the River Aire retaining wall. In some instances, new anchor blocks were provided or support loads for the river wall were incorporated into the new foundation solution.
