Geoenvironmental Engineer – South/South-West England

The Role

JPG is an employee-owned firm of technical specialists working across all aspects of Civil, Structural and Geoenvironmental Engineering within the built environment.

JPG is a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering commercial and technical excellence to our clients in the UK, across all market sectors.

We are currently seeking a Geoenvironmental Engineer with between 2 and 10 years of relevant experience based in the South/South-West of England ideally Swindon/Bristol area, to join our team based in Leeds to assist in the delivery of site investigation projects and the supervision of remedial works and earthworks primarily in the south of England.

The successful candidate will also provide technical support to our Infrastructure and Structural Engineering teams.

Requirements

  • A relevant science or engineering degree, e.g. geology.
  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar subject is desirable.
  • Working towards chartered status with Geological Society or similar.
  • Between two and ten years relevant post-graduate experience. Either with an engineering consultancy or ground investigation contractor.

Objectives and Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of desk study reports, factual and interpretative ground investigation reports, remedial strategy reports, coal mining risk assessments and other ground related reports.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Confidence when dealing with subcontractors.
  • Designing, organising and personally executing the ground investigation works. Including logging and sampling of soil and rock.
  • Willingness to work away from home for extended periods of time.
  • Management of budgets for ground investigation works.
  • Hazardous ground gas/groundwater monitoring and sampling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver projects and work within a multi-disciplinary consultancy.
  • Clean UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK without restriction.
