JPG Group provided civil and structural engineering consultancy services for the new multi-million-pound Jet2.com hangar at Manchester Airport, working on behalf of main contractor TSL.

Despite the complexities of the live airport environment — including tight operational constraints, existing infrastructure, and the need for continuous coordination with multiple stakeholders — JPG delivered a robust, adaptable, and coordinated engineering solution. The project required careful consideration of existing services and ground conditions, as well as the integration of new structures alongside an operational hangar, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing airport activities. The delivery of this project reflects JPG’s technical expertise and proactive approach to resolving on-site challenges.

The new 6,300m² facility marks a significant milestone in Jet2.com’s ongoing investment in its engineering and maintenance capabilities. Constructed following the demolition of a previous hangar, the new building allows Jet2.com to service up to three aircraft simultaneously, or six across its two Manchester hangars. The project, completed in exactly one year, also includes an Apprentice Training suite to support Jet2.com’s growing engineering workforce and sustainability features such as rooftop solar panels. JPG’s involvement ensured the structural integrity, safety, and long-term resilience of the facility, contributing to the seamless delivery of this world-class engineering hub that will support Jet2.com’s continued growth and operational excellence.
