Lakeside, West Thurrock, Essex
The Travelodge Lakeside Hotel consists of steel framed double storey A3 retail units at ground floor and a timber framed four-storey Travelodge above.
The building is situated at the edge of a man-made lake and this posed some unique challenges. These challenges included designing the on-site drainage as part of a wider balanced drainage system that linked a number lakes upstream and downstream of the site.
The lake retaining wall consists of sheet piles which were driven into the underlying chalk. The site attenuation is permeable paving to comply with sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) requirements. The project is programmed to finished July 2017.
