Geoenvironmental studies Trinity Farm
JPG (Leeds) have been appointed to undertake geoenvironmental studies at a 33 acre site at Trinity Farm, Knottingley, providing recommendations required for a commercial development. The 519,000 ft2 unit is to take up the majority of the site, with the capacity for a 12,000 ft2 2 storey office, 2No. 4,000 ft2 warehouse office pods, 68 dock level doors and 8 level goods doors. The remaining area will be utilised by roadways and 395 car parking spaces.
Since the late 1800s the site has been an agricultural farm with very little change in land use. The site is located between the old and new A1(M) motorway and is adjacent to a large TK Maxx distribution warehouse JPG (Leeds) were involved with design engineering back in 2015.
A large geoenvironmental ground investigation was commissioned to provide insight into the geotechnical and environmental conditions beneath the surface. The investigation comprised trial pits, cable percussion boreholes, cone penetration testing, in-situ plate bearing tests and rotary boreholes to obtain rock cores for pile designs.
