Lounge Cinema

This £3.5 million redevelopment of the former Lounge picture house, Headingley, comprising an ASK restaurant and a 4,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s supermarket at ground floor, with 12 apartments above, is ideally located in the popular student area of Leeds close to Headingley Rugby and Cricket Ground.

Construction required facade retention and complete demolition of the existing auditorium with refurbishment of the existing foyer area, whilst maintaining access to existing businesses on a very tight site with adjoining busy road.

Construction of the piled foundations and erection of the steel frame took place within the existing auditorium to enable the facade to be retained by the new structure prior to demolition of the existing building, thus avoiding a costly external and restrictive facade system of support.
